Dog Pools

Collapsible Dog Bath / Poolsmall portable dog bath pool

Materials:  PVC-coated polyester

These portable and collapsible pop-up tubs are built with small dogs in mind (check your dog’s dimensions) but occasionally other sizes are available via the same link - the larger version is pictured here. The tubs, which are halfway between dog pools and dog baths, utilise galvanized steel springs which open up to form the frame of the bath which is clad in a PVC-coated polyester material. Little added extras include mesh side-pockets for toys and/or bathing accessories, a drainage tap, and a restraint loop. As mentioned before, this tub could feasibly be used as a small doggy pool too when the sun’s shining. The nature of the pop-up design makes it almost as easy to pack away as it does to erect. And after collapsing the spring mechanism back down it can be stored or transported in its own mesh carry bag. The price is reasonably good but not fantastic! It is early days for this interesting design, however, and only time will tell if they are worth their cost. So far the few reviews available are giving top marks but we will give just a slightly more careful score until we know a little more!

Pettom Foldable Dog Poolpettom foldable dog pool

Sizes: 31.5" dia. x 7.9" depth to 63" dia. x 11.8" depth

Materials: PVC and MDF

The Pettom is very similar, if not the same, as the ‘Pyrus’ pool listed further down this page, but we are listing this also because it does include some extra variation in size and price. The Pettom is currently available in three sizes ranging from extra small to large, the latter being available in a choice of colors. They are constructed from a combination of tough PVC and MDF which, like most pools with this kind of design, can be folded away after use for storage or transport. A simple side-plug allows for drainage. As mentioned before on this page, dog pools, as well as being great canine-coolers in the heat, can also double up as basic outdoor dog bath tubs if desired. The reviews so far for the Pettom are excellent and seem to be echoing those of the aforementioned Pyrus pool – which makes sense because we believe they are one and the same product, differing in name only!

Paw-Shaped Dog Poolpaw shaped dog pool

Size: 38" dia. x 6" (very approx.)

Materials: UV resistant truck bed liner

Another novelty design for hot dogs in the summertime, the paw-shaped pool is available in several colors and is built from a heavy duty material. Sold by ‘One Dog One Bone’, these UV and chew-resistant pools can hold up to twenty gallons and would suit smaller breeds. It may also cope with some medium-sized dogs, but take note of the very approximate dimensions - because of the pool’s quirky shape - before ordering. Another thing to consider is that the draining of the item is achieved by simply tipping it up. This is made a little easier because the pool has some flexibility and is not a rigid, solid shape. This is fine if you have a good run-off area for the water and your back can cope with the lifting, otherwise, we’d advise you to look elsewhere on our list. This Paw Pool is currently dividing opinion between previous buyers. The reviews, at the time of writing, are contributing to a fairly average score.

Petsfit Foldable Dog Poolpetsfit folding dog pool

45 stars
Size: 41" dia. x 12"

Materials: Heavy duty PVC cloth

It’s early days for the particular pool from Petsfit and there are no customer reviews at the time of writing. We decided to include it on our list because Petsfit do have a good reputation for quality canine products and this one, we’re hoping, is no exception! One thing’s for sure, however, and that is that it looks sturdier than many dog pools out on the market. It’s made from a heavy duty PVC cloth and the company boasts that it will never leak or collapse. The arches which make up the perimeter do look as though they provide extra strength to the pool as well as adding some nice detail to the design. Another plus is, of course, its foldability. And this Petsfit doggy pool can be folded neatly down to a small size for storage. We shall wait and see how this product fares with the customer reviews – we are hopeful but not certain!

Bone Poolbone shaped dog pool3

Size: 66" x 44" x 11"

Materials: UV resistant truck bed liner

No prizes for guessing how this pool gets its name! But don’t let the whimsical title put you off of a product that has been very well received. The Bone Pool is a large and tough item built from truck bed liner material which makes it pretty much chew-proof and is also UV-resistant. The latter quality is important because, obviously, if you haven’t got a lot of spare storage space then this solid pool is going to spend a lot of time outside and exposed to the elements. The pool can hold up to 85 gallons of water and is drained via a side, brass-capped plug. The reviews are extremely good and the price is reasonable considering the size and sturdiness of the design. And so if you and your pet would like something a little different to the commonplace foldable pools, then this is a quirky, but good, alternative! And, of course, it could always double-up as an outdoor dog bath!

Pyrus Pet Bathtubdog bath pool

Sizes: 47.3" dia. x 11.8" depth and 63" dia. x 11.1" depth

Materials: PVC

As you can see, despite the title, this is really a pool rather than a bath. That said, there’s no reason why a decent pool can’t double up as a basic outdoor dog bath/tub – it still beats the kitchen sink or the human bath during fair weather! The Pyrus is available in two sizes (large and XL) that should accommodate most breeds of dog. After use most of the water can be simply drained via a plug on the side of the pool which then can be folded down (concertina style) to quite a compact size, making it easy to store or transport. The design is built from eco-friendly materials and is strong enough to cope with dogs that don’t like to chew or claw. We would suggest, however, that, if possible, an extra rubber mat or similar be placed inside to add a little further protection over time against a dog’s nails. The Pyrus Pet Bathtub seems quite a popular new release thus far. Our only criticism is that we find its price to be a little on the high side but, having said that, the reviews are very good and people seem to be very happy with it!

Frontpet Pool / Bathing Tubdoggy pools

Sizes: 32" dia. x 8" depth and 50" dia x 11.8" depth

Materials: PVC

This looks to be an almost identical design to the Pyrus pool (above). However, apart from the color scheme, there are a couple of differences. Like the Pyrus, the Frontpet pool is available in two sizes, but both of these are smaller in diameter and depth than their respective rivals. But as you might expect, the prices are smaller also, making these particular dog pools the obvious winner if you are looking to buy for a smaller dog. Sizes and prices aside, though, there’s really not too much to choose between the two makes: the Frontpet also drains via a plug on its side and folds down in a similar way (down to 7.5” x 9.5” for the small size and 13” x 12” for the large) making it easy to store or travel with. It’s also constructed from the same tough PVC material as its rival and has received equally good (and many more) reviews for its performance. (As with the Pyrus above, however, we would suggest reinforcing the base with a non-slip mat of some kind.) All in all, whether you buy this dog pool/bath or the one above comes down to the size of your pet – there’s very little to choose between them otherwise.

PVC Dog Poolfoldable dog tub pools

45 star

Size: 32"  dia. x 8" height

Materials: PVC

Click pic for more info or to buy

This dog pool could also be used as a basic outdoor dog tub with fine weather and with a little imagination. The pool pictured, we think, is too tiny for the posing dog and we feel it would be more appropriate for smaller breeds. The manufacturers, however, have chosen to show a retriever squeezed into it but we think that this size of hound deserves a bigger pool! Anyway, on to the product itself… The tub is foldable and is built from a durable PVC material. It comes with a simple drain plug (in the base) to empty the tub when the bathing job is done. It can, of course, also serve as a doggy pool in hot weather. This is obviously a simple design but the reviews are good and the price is reasonable. There are a few concerns about durability, though, and if you have a dog that likes to chew or claw at stuff with his nails, these tubs might not be resistant enough!
